RANDY SMITH

Principal Race Officer

Randy has been involved in Congressional Cup since the early 1990s, sailing in the

event as a crewmember five times. He served as PRO for the first time in 2003, and this

year will be his 8th time in that role. He was the Congressional Cup Chairman in 2006.

He is certified by US Sailing as a National Judge, Regional Umpire and Regional Race

Officer. He has won 7 National or North American titles, including the Farr 40, Cal 20

and Snipes, as well as a silver medal in the Pan Am Games. Randy splits time between

buoy, offshore and match racing, He spends 100+ days a year on the water – racing,

coaching, umpiring and running races. He currently races with several Catalina 37

teams in match and fleet race events and is racing aboard LBYC boats
